Simon Nyilassy is a trustee of Minto Apartment REIT and has extensive experience as a real estate executive and leader. As founder and Chief Executive Officer of Marigold & Associates Inc., a senior housing management and development company, and President, CEO and Director of TSX-V listed CHC Student Housing Corp., he brings a deep understanding of capital and real estate markets to the table.
He serves as Chair of the Audit Committee and is a member of the Compensation, Governance and Nominating Committee of Minto Apartment REIT. He is also an independent committee member of Bentall Green Oak and Crestpoint Real Estate Investments LP, two Canadian based real estate fund managers, as well as chairing the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation board and a board member at Unity Health Toronto.
From 2011 until 2015, Simon served as President and CEO of Regal Lifestyle Communities Inc. following four years as President and CEO of Calloway Real Estate Investment Trust (and trustee from 2003 to 2011), both TSX listed. Prior to this, he was Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration of SmartCentres Group of Companies from 2000 to 2005.
Simon obtained an Honours Bachelor of Engineering Science degree from the University of Warwick and is a designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
